How We Got Where We Are
The Clinton Art Association was started in 1964 by Hortense Blake. Our first location
was on the 2nd floor of the Clinton Public Library. Hortense’s vision is still implemented
today. She was very “hands-on” and wanted people to learn about a variety of art and
mediums. The Library location allowed us to have frequent lectures about art from local
artists. A year later, we moved to the Schick Hospital where that location allowed us to
have more classes! In 1999, the Association purchased our current location, the Martin Morris
building, and has been open since 2001. The Clinton Art Association continues to have “hands-on”
experiences.
